What are you going to do next?

Saturday…. sometime Saturday…… because a single Warmaul Ogre charged at me….. I experienced the flash of light and that was that: I was now level 70. Standing all by myself atop the Warmaul Hill in Nagrand, one of my favorite ogre locales. In a way, that seemed fitting since much of my time getting to that flash of light and congratulatory message was spent soloing.

I really had no idea what my feelings at the moment might be, and predictably they were mixed. The last couple bars of experience I certainly had a “make it last longer” sense. Make it go on. Don’t kill if you don’t have to…. and it won’t happen. Yet. Maybe make it while doing something nice…. turning in a quest or…. but then that ogre caught sight of me and well, done is done.

I stood atop Warmaul hill for a bit soaking it all in and then there wasn’t much to do but port myself to my favorite mage trainer in Stormwind for a final bit of training. Back to where it all began as it were, and again – I was the only one there. Alone with the mage and portal trainers and my own mixed feelings. I had packed the three tomes of level 70 skills, purchased over the past few weeks to spread the sticker-shock pain around, in my bag and trained those as well.
Off to the auction house, the vendors, the mailbox…

Started getting a few congratulatory messages and then my druid-friend showed up and knelt before me and gave me presents – flowers, wine and cheese. Then he began proclaiming loudly to me (and all within earshot) about how I was now a level 70!

Somewhere along the way we picked up a level 10 character who needed a little help. Paw helped him with that and then the new kid was wishing he had cats like ours…. so we scooped him up and brought him round to the Crazy Cat Lady in Northshire and in celebration of my leveling, I purchased him a cat. He was amazed and confused and probably thought these two folks pretty odd, but he got over it!

Then we ported a newly level 20 mage to pick up her first portals.

Then we rambled a bit doing questage for Paw and then I rested. Oh and among other presents received: a mana wyrm (thanks Jackie and Matt!) and (thanks Matt!) a 10 pound, off-hand fish!
