snow?

Well yesterday’s “major winter snow” was not so much in the major amount of snow category, but it had enough “mixed precip” in it to make a “major mess and headache” sort of situation. What’s not to like about deep slush, freezing stuff on trees, freezing stuff on top of snow on trees, followed by a goodly amount of wind? Jolly.

As far as I could tell, we did not lose power last night, for which I am grateful. We’ve had a few snowfalls since the big icestorm in December and each one brings down more of the damaged trees and branches. Lots of brush and cover for small critters, more openings in the canopy to allow light and growth of ground-level plants. The natural order of change. Nature moves in when there’s an opening.

Despite bad weather, slop, ice, snow, cars seem to move in when there’s something that could be construed as an opening. One cut in between me (the last car in the string) and the car in front of me….. while I was going along at a goodly enough clip on slop that well, stopping suddenly not so much an option. silly driver. But that’s a rant for a different time and blog.
