Art in Embassies

Nice article in today’s NYTimes about the programs that put US art into American Embassies around the world. Long-time readers will remember that my piece, along with some others’, from the Roots of Racism exhibit were sent to the US embassy in Islamabad.

Now if we could just get some attention to art/arts in US schools…

And among my treasured memories of my time in Canberra was the visit to the American embassy to see their quilt collection … gosh that was ages ago now, but I was so impressed with actually seeing real live vintage and contemporary American quilts! I don’t know how many of the Canberra Quilters went through the embassy that day but the queues were long…
