How to run anything

From the NYTimes how to lead a successful Thanksgiving campaign (dinner) as well as a list from Mark Bitten of 101 things you can make before your oven gets tied up with the big bird.

In other news, i wondered aloud to my Warcraft friends what fresh dates looked like after seeing a box of beautiful glossy brown ones (I wanted the whole box but restrained myself – the box of loose shiny dates was so different from the compressed bricks commonly found). The web provided this and other information about the life stages of dates before they get to that point.

Thanks for the information on dates. When we went to Vancouver BC in October one of my goals for my walk through Chinatown was to track down “wierd” fruits. I bought several: rambutans, two types of dragonfruit (a favorite from our trip to China)some others whose names escape me at the moment…we decided against the big fat durian. Recently I read a couple of books on the amazing variety of fruits available throughout the world. I know one thing I will be doing if I ever get to Hawaii….
