The First of NaPoWriMo

The Eve of April

Here on the eve of April
I sweep the path to your door.
All is quiet within.
In the mid-night
the stars call and
swing across the answering sky.

After dreams, tomorrow waits.
I’ve strewn white petals
on the stone walk.
The world lies ready.

Beautiful, Mary Beth. Love “answering sky,” especially.

I get this image of someone sitting along, while everyone else is asleep, and watching the stars, waiting for the new day to arrive. Maybe this is exactly what I was doing last night (though with less star watching and more people awake outside me door) but that is why I like it. I like the quiet of morning when ine has the world to onesself, and your poem reflects that.

I came from the NaPoWriMo site. I’m excited to find it since I try and play along with Poetry Month though I’m a prose writer at heart. Lovely image, nice movement. I’ll be back. Come visit. I’ll make tea.
