Welcome to quiltr.com

I’ve been inviting folks to these pages for many years – “I’m at dubdubdub dot quiltr dot com, that’s quilt(e)r with no ‘e'” I tell people.

And now, finally, the whole site is at that domain. That’s something that’s mostly invisible to most people but means that the link at the top of your browser shows quiltr.com rather than artsroundup.com. I like it when I follow a link from somewhere to shorten the link I clicked on or copied back to the root domain and to see what else is there.

I am still in progress of updating and fixing. Tackling all the old links is next up on the to-do list.

In other news, at lunch time today I had a facebook discussion with someone about a small Emily Dickinson poem he posted. He described himself as “a foreign language speaker of English” and was asking for specific meanings of words in this short poem:

I had no time to hate, because
The grave would hinder me,
And life was not so ample I
Could finish enmity.

Nor had I time to love, but since
Some industry must be,
The little toil of love, I thought,
Was large enough for me.
– Emily Dickinson

It felt odd as I read his first question that no one else had stepped in with authoritative answers so I answered the first question with a dictionary definition. Soon we had a handful of back and forths focusing mainly on the meanings of individual words. It was a great way to spend lunch.
