New Year’s Eve Haiku

woke up this morning
wondering if I’d missed it
and slept through new years

new year’s eve is long
the afternoon stretching out
to soften the blow

sunny afternoon
ending cloudy December
bright new year’s eve day

Had lunch with Mom today and enjoyed our visit. Stopped at pellegrino’s and confirmed what I suspected: the bright green olives we all liked were fresh olives! Stopped at the grocery store to get some treats for tonight and tomorrow. Sent in a bit of my NaNoWriMo story for a critique round our group is starting (saved and sent before I could change my mind or look again.)

Now I’m home and can get ready for the year to turn. I feel like I gained a whole year in a way because this morning before I opened my eyes I had a thought that I’d slept through New Year’s Eve and missed the whole thing. So today was all a bonus!

Yes we had a good time. Sorry about the olives. Worth a try. Can’t wait to hear how the critiquing goes. Have a good greeting to the new year.

  2. Mary Beth Frezon says:

No need to be sorry mom – they’re delicious! (and so were the ones you had) The ones Pellegrinos had were much larger than what we’d gotten in Hannafords in that olive bar mix.
