Day 19, NaPoWriMo – How to Make a Quilt

Take two, inspired by this wonderful poem by another NaPoWriMer, Dawn Whitehand who’s a potter.

Take several yards of some new fabric
plus whatever old scraps you have nearby
look through all your books and your magazines
find a pattern that’s close to what you want
Then do all the needed calculations
and start chopping up the fabric to bits
strips and squares, triangles and rectangles
stack up all the pretty colors neatly
Sewing with an eye to efficiency
run all the pieces under the needle
until all small pieces are one big piece
of fabric again and so beautiful.
Layer, quilt as desired, or in the words
of a wise friend, quilt the hell out of it.
